Ultra Clear is a filtration media that is a direct replacement for silica sand in all types of filters used for the treatment of drinking water and waste water treatment. It includes pressure sand filters and RGF rapid gravity filters. These filters should be operated with the slowest possible hydraulic loading to optimize the filtration performance.
Ultra Clear is used for the treatment of drinking water from Lakes, reservoirs, rivers, boreholes, wastewater to be recycled as potable water, brackish water and seawater prior to desalination membranes.

WASTEWATER
Our filter media can be used at Abattoirs and slaughter houses to assist with the removal of oils, sediments and blood in the effluent. Ultra Clear glass filter media carries a surface negative charge and works well with cationic coagulants and flocculants that possess a positive charge, to assist with the removal of organic matter in the effluent stream. Aquaculture requires the best possible water quality. It produces at least twice the overall filter efficiency in comparison to sand filter media and reduces the parasitic and bacterial risk in your system.
AQUACULTURE AND AQUARIA
Our filter media is ideal for fish systems, because unlike sand which supports bacterial growth as every grain of sand is colonized by bacterial within just a few days. These ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria (NOB) converts ammonia to nitrates and then consumes oxygen from the water which reduces the pH. The bacteria causes coagulation of the sand, which clogs the media and creates channeling. The bacteria is then released into the process water. Our filter media is a bio resistant media with high surface oxidation potential.
